I was absolutely convinced that Disney (NYSE: DIS) stock was going to go through the roof. My entire social media feed, for any site, was swamped with people posting about that movie. I feel like I knew Han Solo died before the movie was even released, such was the fervor surrounding the film. Someone got freaking killed for spoiling that by the way. If that doesn't show insane passion for a product, I don’t know what does. I mean, it also shows that there are lunatics amongst us, but you can’t deny that any piece of art that can spark that kind of reaction is surely valuable in some way. So, that being the case, what can possibly be troubling Disney? One issue is that people aren’t as enamored with ESPN as they used to be. What was once a premium sports channel with top of the line on air talent has devolved into a screaming, talking head freak show. Each pundit tries to out-yell, out-predict and out-outrage the next. There is no real analysis, just people trying to say something that will get them exposure. It's sad. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they one day advertised a cage match between Skip Bayless and Jason Whitlock as a pay per view event. Still, Disney has infinite toy sale options, Marvel, Star Wars, theme parks. It seems like this dip is just a bump in the road, and I would bet that they rebound nicely.
